  • festiva.. soon to be DSM turboed. need help:)

my plan is find a junkyard DSM(eclipse) with a t25 and rob the manifold(for flange), turbo, downpipe, and oil lines... ive been reading and some of u are just retarding the timing roughly 1 degree per pound of boost and using stock fuel systems.. i find it hard to believe but if this actually works i wanna know before i buy anything i dont need also the car is a auto with 70,000 miles everything motor/tranny wise is perfect but i have a 5 speed with 150,000 and a sloppy tranny just wondering what you guys think would make a better candidate?

That's a different type of introduction. I don't know the answer but just wanted to welcome you to the site and I'm sure some one will let you know. You should post pictures and location because maybe there might be a member near you if you need help or vise versa.

Forget the 5 speed. Do this to the automatic.

        BTW, welcome to the site.

also where do u have your oil lines run? im thinking of getting a remote oil filter and t'ing the lines. 1 to turbo/ 1 to engine then the return right to the pan

I tee'd the feed for the turbo from my oil pressure sensor (on back of block, under intake). And for the return, I used a holley blue fuel pump to move the oil back to the motor. I got lazy and returned it into the oil cap. (it was quick and easy to tap the plastic cap). And if you do put an FMU, make sure you put an extra fuel pump in-line, and before the filter. An FMU sees boost, so if you are making 10 lbs. of boost, it will raise the fuel pressure 12 to 1 which 12X10=120. So at 10 lbs. it will try to make an additional 120 psi on top of the stock 40 psi. 120+40=160 psi needed 99% of pumps stop flowing any volume at about 100 psi. So theoretically if you run 2 pumps, you can make 200 psi. Believe me I tried it without it. Also an easy swap is the b8, and it handles 10 psi very well. The b3 runs well on 10 lbs. also. I got mine into the 15's in the quarter on the stock motor with 220k miles. And on 15 inch "heavy" wheels.

Good luck and welcome to the site. Look around and you'll find alot.
