  • Probe GT tranny question

Does anyone know the spline count of the differential in the Probe GT V6 transmission?

Or to answer the question easier, will the capri/323gt axles work in the Probe V6 tranny?

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Thanks, i've been debating on attempting a V6 swap into a festiva and i've been trying to figure out how i can make the axles work, i have an idea that may make it a possible swap

323 gt axles will not work. Probe gt trans are 28 spline, 323 gt are 26. You could just buy a mfactory 26 spline lsd and put it in the probe case.

That is my thoughts exactly, swap the diffs. and use the 323 axles in the probe tranny and it "should" make a V6 swap possible without getting custom axles

A guy at my work has a 600hp Probe and i beleive has spare trannies laying around, i'm going to try and get one from him and experiment with the two trannies

are the v6 trannies stronger than the 323 gt ones? also i have heard about a 5th gear swap, taking the 5th out of the v6 ones and putting them in a 323gt/egt one... are all the gears the same exept for 5th?

The bell housing on the V6 trannies are different, so the V6 tranny will not work with any B series engine, but the V6 tranny is still a G-series transmission which leads me to beleive the differentials will interchange between the 323/capri trans and the probe trans allowing me to use 323 axles in the probe tranny and that thought alone is why i'm going to attempt that swap into a festiva :evil4::evil4:

And yes i've been reading about the V6 trannies 5th gear being an upgrade for the 323/capri trans as well, which is the second reason why i want to get a probe tranny

what ever trany it is... how much does it lower your revs on the free way? everyone says it sits at about 3000 at 100kmh... in my festiva it sits at 2500 at 100kmh...

Sorry if this is slightly off-topic, but which Probes had the G-series Transmissions, what were the gear ratios, and what motors were bolted to it?

I ask this because this might make it possible to mount a FE3N in the Festiva which I hear is a ridiculous motor for boost applications.

I think it drops it about 500rpms. The non turbo 4cyl first gen probes/mx6s have the g series trans that bolts to the fe3n. The turbo models have the h series. Both will bolt to a fe3n. The G series trans is really weak and I doubt itd stand up to the torque of a high boost fe3n though. If I ever find a cheap motor ill find out though.

any way the "H" trans would fit?

Kinda doubt it I think they have problems fitting it in bf 323s iirc.
