  • XR2 intermediate shaft block mount on BP

So what did everyone do to mount a capri xr2 axle shaft to the bp, as it is the mount is about half an inch to the left of where it needs to be, what would be the easiest way to mount it up, I dont have a welder nor the skills to operate one if i could.

    Where the mount sits:

    where it should be:

I saw a guy that took and reamed out the holes so they would thread in, then he pinched it in there with two pieces of plate acting as washers, one had two holes for the one side and the other had just the one. I would use 1/4" cold rolled plate.

How come I've never heard of this problem before?
      Current cars:

      1984 Toyota Cressida - 2JZGE Swap, Turbocharged.

Some "non-weld" ideas... maybe do-able, maybe not. Food for thought.

Could it be possible to get a piece of heavy 90 degree steel... on one face, drill holes to match the block... on the other face drill holes to match the XR2 axle mount?
This would significantly change the angle of the axle w/r/t the block & may not work.

An alternative would be to make a "sandwich" out of 2 heavy steel plates, with spacers between them. The inner plate would have holes to match the block, and several other holes for short, fat bolts that hold it to the other plate, with spacers between the plates. The outer plate would have the same "sandwich bolt" holes and also holes to match the XR2 axle mount. This wouldn't change the angle so much, but it would move the axle mount away from the block a bit.

Both ideas are kludgy, perhaps one of them could work. I haven't actually tried either idea, so it's just a thought experiment at this stage.

dang that is overkill! I could do the calcs and I bet it would hold more than the mounts in a cummins turbo diesel pickup!
