  • Superchargin The 97. *aspire*

Hi all. I've decided after much much thought and deliberation, I have decided to supercharge the 97.

I will be using a belt driven Centrifugal Blower unit. At 5psi's maxing it from 70hp to 110hp With current tuned and parts settings.. There will be deliberation about the intake design. There will be the following installations,

Intercooler, BoV, Boost control manager, guages (duh) and there be more mods done to the engine. It is rebuilt already. With headers and a decent fuel management system. So ofc there wont be any issues with leanancy.

Now its only a small boost in hp because of the sheer fact in where i live, cops have issues with high horsepower Compacts. Beer Cans with too much boost tend to hit bigrigs and crumple up. Hence the adjustment.

I will be looking into a rebuilt ignition and exhaust as well, to over-do the current modified.

And if yall are lucky you may get pics and a vid.

    Cheers all.

You are going to lose alot of power just trying to turn a centrifugal sc with these small engines. You would have better results with a turbo.

boost controller for a sc setup? you'll use 30hp to spin the thing. i doubt youll get 40 more horses to the ground with only 5psi, maybe on a turbo setup. if you want to do some research first look up the jackson supercharger setups that came on the first gen miatas. see what kind of gains they got on what psi with the 1.6

You dont need a blow off valve for a supercharger.

true for roots style like the jackson racing, still need it for centrifugal setups.

Chrisofna: I used to work for Eaton's OEM supercharger div and ours had a blow off valves built into the case. Yes they were tested.

Ahh, okay then, I was always taught that superchargers dont have BOVs, guess I was wrong, never really researched them enough because I never had any interest in supercharging 4 cylinders.

You might also investigate the early supercharged MR2s to see their specs. I think they were 1.6 DOHCs.
