4 speed to 5 speed conversion

Hello Everyone,

89 Festiva with 4 speed. Changing to a 5 speed is a straight forward installation? I know the CV shafts are the same but how about the shift linkage hookup?

Any other info/advice would be welcome!

They're the same tranny as far as I can tell. Same housing, one of them is just missing a gear.

There was a post about this on the old board i agree it is just missing the 5th gear.

Your shift light won't work any more, thats about it.

Wouldn't be better to swap for the aspire 5 speed. Better gearing and better case.

Read a little about the Aspire tranny swap but there's apparently some "modifying" that I want to avoid. Looking for a straight R&R.
