  • Different intake setups?

Does anyone know of an intake manifold, or throttle body, or both from another car that will bolt up to these engines and let it breath a little more freely?

...B6 SOHC out of a Mazda 323 will bolt right up, you just need to port match it with the intake manifold.. I believe the Festiva's is a 45 or 50mm TB and the B6 is either a 50 or 55mm I can't remember right now which it is... And if you want to go ridiculous, get a BP TB which is 60mm I believe (Escort GT's, 94' Miata's, LX Protege's)... -Kyle

So you're suggesting the intake manifold from a 323, and the TB from a Miata.

No no, I mean that you should get a Throttle Body from one of the above mentioned cars and take a dremel and match the increased size throttle body to the stock intake manifold. -Kyle

If you're talking about putting on a larger TB to your stock B3 engine, look at the '86 to '89 323 and Mercury Tracer B6 engines. The TB design on those is closer to your B3 TB than the later (post '90) 323s. They pass their air intake pipe over the top of the valve cover just like a Festiva does.

Also, the IAC valve is a separate part mounted off the TB on those older B6s. Later model 323 B6s have the IAC valve mounted on the lower part of their TBs.

Best thing to do is to go to a well stocked junkyard and look at all the variations in TBs and such on Mazda B series engines.

what I was mostly asking about was...is there another intake manifold that will bolt up to our engines and allow it to breath better?
