I am in iraq and soon will be home when i get there i have to rebuild my stock B3. I need to know and soon, how much would a full out swap into a B6, B8, or BP cost and the amount of mod instore. what is the gas milage of the other installs. I know this is alot but if i can get more bang for my buck and not sacrifise TOO MUCH gas mileage. If anyone can help me out on this it would be greatly appreciated, more than you could possibly know.

Short answer:
B6 - Nice increase in performance over B3 with nearly no mods needed and with some care only minor loss of MPG.
B8 - More performance above that of B6 and mods as described in link below.
MPG need to check with eurotiva about that and any details on the swap.
BP - Much more performance over the B8 mods might be extensive depending upon your skills, MPG will suffer.
Take care over there and come back safe.

One more option, I know a group in the Raleigh,NC area that could give you a hand getting your B3 back on the road while you find another festiva to do a swap on.
Or they may even be up for helping you do the swap.
I'll let them speak up!Last edited by Pu241; 01-16-2010, 12:44 PM.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

I've been wondering the same thing and was wanting to ask.
Someday i want to do a swap (it'll be a while since my b3 only has 93,000 miles on it)
Anyway it would be awesome to know
MPG for each B6 B6T B8 BP engines
Also the reliability of these engines.. Are they as reliable/long lasting as the b3 or what?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Price is quite variable; depends on location and availability of various components via JY, friends, or members here, as well as again, your skills.
DIY B6, B8, BP probably between 300 and $600 bepending on what else the engine might need (water pump, oil seals, etc.) and FAB work needed.
Other members feel free to provide real pricing.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

My B6 mileage on its maiden cruise to Iowa were as follows. Note different driving situations.
The results of the MPG test:
Trip up to Des Moines Hwy miles 1st fill up 222 miles 5.5 gals = 40.36 MPG ( steady 70-75 mph )
Mixed driving around Des Moines A/C on 197 milles 5.6 gals = 35.18 MPG
Last fill up upon arriving home A/C on 146 miles 3.95 gals = 37 MPG
Total miles 565 used 15.05 gals for average of 37.54 MPG
Two people in car loaded with tools, emergency spare parts, cooler, overnight bag, slight head wind going and slight tail wind returning.sigpic

ok if sasquatch ditched the B6T idea that easily then i want nothing to do with it. I have afriend who is going to rebuild my B3 for me for around 1200 thats a full rebuild. I currently have a 4 speed manual, I have a '93 with a 5 speed in it and fuel injection. I would also like to get rid of these stupid reversed lug nuts and 12" rims. I think thats all i want pls someone tell me what to do. I have no job and 2 months of leave saved up so when i get home within a month i need to get my car on the road. If the engines already out it would be the perfect time to do any of this. What do you guys think. Im sorry im so needy but just very concerned about my little smurf. Thanx in advance for all your help. It's Not Much To Look At, But It's Still Funny To See The Look On Their Faces When They Catch Back Up To You At The Next Light!
