  • Exhaust?

well i recently bough a festiva  enjoying it thus far but i have an exhaust system that was probably on jesus's car. it is very rusted and actually broke off after the cat. so i was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get an exhaust system to put on it. I've been to the local midas and they want $325 to put a new exhaust on past the cat. thats a little high so i was wondering if someone who does cheap exhaust.
    Stock is not an option!

    Re: Exhaust?

Try an independent muffler shop. Chances are they'll do a better job for a good price.

Can you do it yourself? If so the parts are probably $150 at autozone or advanced. All you need to do is jack up the car and cut the old exhaust off. Usually just the 2 bolts at the cat flange and the 2 at the muffler flange. Then put the new in. An hour or 2 job

i don't think you're gonna be able to get it much cheape rthan that. maybe a junkyard pipe could be jimmy rigged until you could afford new parts

Yep. Junkyard plumbing project! I'd take a hacksaw and look for little cars with some good pipe. Then buy the adaptors to hook up different diameter pipes at the parts store.

Use your imagination, and maybe a Cherry Bomb glasspack.

(I always wanted to put a Cherry Bomb on something.)

            Good luck!

Yeah around home (NJ) it is expensive to get exhaust work done... But down in VA where I go to school, the same work might cost 1/2 or 2/3 what it would cost... Where are you located? -Kyle

Just shop for a little hole in the wall shop , I had my pipe from the cat to the muffler replaced with aluminized stuff $20.00 has not rusted since ,over 2 years now. Midas way overpriced and they always want to do the whole thing .

if it's free then why not? I can't imagine it would sound worse than the stock muffler.
