I am replacing the motor in my 88 and the two pipes that run up to the air cleaner do i need them? I really want to just cap them off and put a different air cleaner on it. Is their any thing i need to keep or redo to make sure it don't effect the way it will run?

You have to be very careful when you are welding it. Zinc fumes are poisonous. There's tons of info online.
