Home made CAI

I'm trying to put together a cold air intake using various bits and pieces I've picked up from the wreckers. I've found that Volvo turbos have great bits of hose, pipe and connectors for thier intercoolers.

Can anyone recommend an effective way to clean the oil etc off the rubber hoses?

Once I've got things set up I'll take some photos

brake cleaner works good... but it may melt the rubber if its soft stuff... but i doubt it is cause its on a turbo car... i use hot water, soap and a stiff brush all the time, works great

Soak them in simple green and hot water

go to the good ol dollar general and get a jug of "LA's Totally Awsome" it works on everything

if u have a junk dish washer layin around do it that way soap and water works best dont try this at home kids

^^ ha. I was reading this at work laughing to myself. Everybody was wondering what was soo funny. What a smart a$$! Lol
And to answer your question they were talking about cleaning parts.

I've put some of those hoses in my parts cleaner and scrubbed them with a wire brush. Cleaned them up really well. Didn't notice any damage to the hose. Aerosol engine degreaser may work also. But the guaranteed safest way is soap and water and some elbow grease.

Mineral Spirits will melt the grease in a heartbeat and not hurt anything.
