  • my jy find

so i was working on getting the whole drum and back plate from a festiva at the jy, because mine was locked up due to wheel bearing failure, and low and behold, as i was laying there i look over and see an escort LX with a red exhaust tip.. "hmm" i go over and look, and i didnt even have to cut it off! it was just slid over the exhaust pipe! i dont know anything about exhausts so what do i need to get this thing on my car?

buy some exhaust clamps and try to see if one will fit in the other (may need a tail pipe expander, or have it welded. those are cheap glass pack cherry bomb muflers there only like 20 buxs new so you might be better off finding the right diameter then trying to modifying that one to fit

this one was way less than 20 so its better for me to just hack it to fit

i dont know what size this one is, and as you can see the exhaust doesnt have the flange any more

If your stock festiva muffler has a flange on it you can cut it off as far down into the muffler as you can and drop it down into the glasspack and weld it in.

might be a dumb question but would there be any advantages with a glass pack??.....besides the cool sound...lol

It should flow a bit better than a stock style muffler, but that probably won't result in anything noticeable unless you had a turbo car (which is more sensitive to exhaust restriction).

By the way, ^^^ That's 99.9% city driving

I guess if you like the rumble of cherry bomb its ok. I have a cherry bomb on mine and I am fixing to get rid of it and put something more quieter on it, but i guess the older you get the quieter you want your car.

I had 2 cherry bomb mufflers on mine and I noticed a big decrease in low end power and had nothing for passing if needed (not that a stock Festy has that much passing power...lol). I didn't realize it was the exhaust till I put the original back on....
