Ok i don't know if this would be the place to ask, but if need to be move please do.
Ok i was at my dads friends house getting a aspire swap and seed he has a protege not sure what year, but it has the bp in it and so i grabbed the ecu out of it. Well that ecu is a bp10 and i was curious what is the difference between the bp10 and bp09 ecu?

Ok but the car i pulled it from was a 5 speed. Also it didn't show any signs that it was swapped over. Looked all original and nice not all cobbled together so i am confused by it.

        BP10 Automatic
        BP09 5 spd

BP10 works in 5 spd cars, but BP09 will not fit auto. The tranny connector is missing in the BP09.

I thought that the auto had three plugs?
The egt that i had was a originally a auto and had a three plug ecu. This one is a two plug just like the manual, would you happen to know why it is used in the manual cars?

this is the only other info i found:
normally the BP09 ecu is the one that you have in your car if your car is and original protege DOHC LX from 90-94 one of the difference and the bigger is that the redline should be 7,500 RPM and the SOHC is 5,900 apx, also you cand find this ecu in the 92up Escort GT

someone else will need to step in, thats all i could find on the subject.

The escort I pulled my bp from at the yard had a bp09 ecu. It has two plugs. The car was an automatic and had a separate ecu for tranny control. I think earlier bp's had the separate ecu.

Its the same as the bp09, just like the bpvr thats only found in the 95 Escort GT.

Also the redline is 7000 rpm and not 7500. Some of the ecus fuel cut is 7500 rpm.
