  • BP09 Tuning.

Hello - A friend of mind recently purchased a festiva with a BP (BP09 ECU) swap and has the Exhintake mod. He was wondering on if he could get some driveability tuning done. I used the "search" function and it appears that it may not be worth it because the best option's are a piggy-back like Apexi S-AFC or a stand alone such as Megasquirt. Is this correct? I was hoping it was going to be easy and it was early Ford EEC... I know this is not the case, however.

He plans on forced induction in the future (hopefully near future) so it probably wouldn't be a waste of time to do a Megasquirt setup. Is there a better solution? I also read about a plug and play solution someone may be creating on the Protege' forum's using megasquirt? Is this true? How much does he/she charge for his/her setup?

Thanks ahead of time. If I missed a FAQ or thread please direct me elsewhere. I did read the all the FAQ's I felt applied and searched dozen's of threads.

    Jake

for bp and bpt stuff the festiva forum has some good stuff on it but nothing compaired to the protege and escort forums (feoa.net and clubprotege.com )

megasquirt is not beginners stuff... you have to know what your doing or you will blow up your motor... or you better have money to send it out and get it set up...

a SAFC is fairly easy to put in and set up... but you still need to know what your doing and to set it up good you need a wide band.

i would head over to one or both of the forums and start reading all you can, the questions you have asked have been asked by lots of people and have been answerd good luck with your build

I understand what a stand-alone system requires as far as knowledge. I've tuned stand alones before both MS and Big Stuff 3. I'm not scared of the calibration. This will be my first Mazda/Fastiva though. Just making sure there isn't a better/cheaper way to go about laying down a good solid tune.

Is this the same thing you sell assembled? Minus the WB02 stuff?

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the DIYPNP product line has reached it’s end of life.  This F.A.Q. page will remain available for archive purposes. Is a DIYPNP fully assembled?  Do I just plug it in when it arrives? The DIYPNP ships in kit form and allows you to build a Plug-N-Play EMS for an incredible number of vehicles…

What are the advantages of your setup over this Lex guys? Besides dual WB02?

Only if it runs... Have yet to get to that pint. 3.4liter whipple s/c on a 5.4 liter. 120lb/hr injectors and BS3. Gong to run e85. Should be a good time. Pullied to around 27 pounds of boost depending where we decide to set the limiter.

THe bp ecu cant be chipped or hacked. It has to be reburned and is really expensive. Your better off getting mega squirt because of the unlimited possiblities compaired to a reburned expensive na ecu.
