I started doing delivery with my festy and it has increased my stop and go driving habits extremely. So much that it has me thinking of the escort brake replacement. Cheapest way to do this for me would be a donor car. hummm??? Thought, If I'm going to find a donor car for this, then perhaps an engine swap too. Bp? the research I've seen shows a few engine options, I like the DOHC look, but are the SOHC larger cc? witch version performs better? can I even get all the needed parts from one donor car, ie- eng, trans, brakes, rotors ect.... If so is an escort even the best route??? And is there a best year to find? (I also like damkids v6 probe setup) evil grin do they make a v8 fwd? lol

Not any that would fit in a festiva  as far as performance, DOHC will perform better then a SOHC of the same size, i honestly beleive a BP is one of the easiest swaps that get a great gain in power with relatively ease, and it'll put a festiva in approx. the mid 15's at the track with decent suspension

As far as using the Escort GT Drivetrain, the tranny uses a hydraulic clutch set-up where the festiva uses a cable, i make an adapter to be able to use the stock festiva cable on the Escort GT trans

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

This is what a BP looks like minus the red paint and the turbo:

BP's came with either the ford or Mazda valve cover depending on which vehicle the BP came factory in, but are otherwise identical

For a stop-and-go delivery car, a B8 might be the better choice. More low-end torque than a BP. The BP is more of a high revver.

Put over 50k on a BP deliviring pizza in the city and it was a BEAST! lol. Didn't do much delivery with the B8 swap though so I guess I can't make a good comparison. But the BP does make for one awesome city driving car... If you watch the stoplights from the other side to turn red and time when yours goes green its good practice for drag launches too
                        No festiva for me ATM...

I like the B8 over the BP IMO. I know the BP is DOHC and all but the B8 is more then enough power especially if someone is used to a B3.

I'd say go with a B6. Better gas mileage than a B8 or BP, which is important for stop-and-go driving, and basically a direct swap since it's based on the same block as the B3. And you will notice the 19 extra HP too.
