Yeah, I know, you get guys sayin all the time "gear oil's all I use dude". What they fail to mention to the "vast group of guys" on here is: you may be able to pull that off in the really hot southern parts of the USA, but not everywhere else, and not for very long either. That RL synthetic you got should take good care of you, now make sure your seals are rightious, and think about what I said about cryo.

if you have a g-series they do recommend 75-w90 in the protege FSM for certain climates.

I've run 80w90 oil in all my gtypes, even during winter (eastern PA) no issues other than stiff shifting when you first hop in the car

within a week of the rebuild i noticed a hard shifting condition when using the 75w90 gear oil. thought it was the synchros breaking in or something. then 3rd started to grind. then my diff blew up... ill stick with the stuff that ford recomends... shifting is smooth as glass and the diff is still intact...for now
I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!

I'm running B&M trick Shift and it seems to work great. I can't say it's better than anything else because it's all I've run in this tranny and I haven't had it apart. I especially like it because it's blue, just like my ATE super Blue brake fluid. Blue is fast.
