  • Will it hold?

Ok well the other day my B8/bp engine broke the front engine mount on fester so I have desided to part with the car and use the engine in my whitey. Due to the lack of fab skills I am wanting to use the stock 5 speed tranny with the BP engine. I have a spec 2 race clutch for whitey but im needing to know if the tranny will hold the engine. Fester right now has a hydro f-series that I will be saving for later down the road.

The festy tranny held great with a B8 so it should be ok with a N/A bp no?

hmmmm.... I wouldn't mind throwing the F series in it but the mount ordeal is stopping me. I forgot to add that ill be running my 15's so with that engine plus those wheels would most likliy kill the tranny huh?

Yeah any time yo do a bp swap it is the best idea to get a better tranny because you never know when it might just give up.

Well id almost be willing to pay 200 bucks for mounts if someone could fab some up. The only mounts I need are the front and rear tranny mounts. If not on here I am going to see if my brother might be able to fab up some nice mounts. My F-series is already setup for more then the engine pushes HP wise.

I made mine for the f series cable. My front mount is just some small angle iron with holes drilled in it and welded it all in a L like shape and that is all that is for the front.

Casper is a BP with Festy 5-speed. It'll hold up well unless you abuse it.

The only abuse I do to it is pulling hard through the gears. Some times i let it spin allittle then stomp it. The car has a great body but the under body is shot. Right next to where the trailing arm mounts its rusted pretty bad. One good pot hole and the rear would dismount. I need some body panels and fenders plus the engine and tranny for my GL, so this is going to be the parts car. My brother said he can made a good mount for the front but the rear is going to be tricky. Once the engine gets pulled back out, im going to drop the cross member and see if we can mock up a good rear mount. I want to be able to poly all the mounts.

Im not really a fan of the hydro clutch but if thats what I need to make this reliable then it needs to be installed.
