Well I've put a performance cam and a Weber carb on my '89 LX and it runs great but now I found an '89 323 with a low mileage engine in good shape. I'm planning on putting this engine in my Festiva with the cam and the original intake with the Weber. My question is, does the '89 b6 head have a place for the mechanical fuel pump?

My '94 B6 has a plate on the head for the mechanical FP, so I think your earlier B6 is certain to have it as well.
Here's a pic:
See it? On the head immediately around the corner from the distributor. I'm pretty sure that's the plate. That's where my '89L had her mechanical FP.
