are there 2 different types of g5mr cable trans?

i replaced my trans with one out of 93 xr2. i noticed there is a large bump in the 5th gear cover. ive never seen one of therse

As far as I know there's no difference between any of the cable tranny's

Ya I see what your talking about.... From me taking apart a couple different probe tranny's, EGT tranny's etc, I have seen two different styles of 5th gears (located just under that cover) but I haven't noticed any differences in the covers themselves

I think I'd rather have the flat cover for framerail clearance.

me too... its hitting the frame rail... i didnt want to switch the cover without knowing if it would cause an internal clearance issue...

my friend told me it looks like the the same 5th gear cap on his klde...is it possible that some one swapped the bell housing side of the 4cyl and 6cyl g series transmissions?

^^You can't swap the bell housings, but you can swap the end covers, so that would be possible

I have both cable trans and KLDE gtype end caps on hand here, I think I noticed the v6 cap stamping was just a smidge deeper

I have a cable trans and a DE trans as well and I never noticed any difference, I'll have to look again :lol: I'll also check my Escort GT trans to see if there's a difference with that one as well
