You dont swap the whole 323 harness just the engine harness all you have to do is splice into a few wires on the steering column. Theres a sticky somewhere all about this.

i was just looking for a "simple" swap lol but jumped on the b6t i found bc it was so cheap. ive already done a full herness swap when i did the b6-me swap. i see the harness swap being a huge pain bc the 323 is totally different in legenth and the dash controls are totally different. when i did the last harness i took every single wire from the donor car. so how many things are gunna need to be spliced and cut ect to make this work? i dont wanna spend a week figuring out the wiring. im a mechanic not a computer guy lol

You can get a B6T harness for like $100... Someone has a wiring guide here. You can't run the engine standalone of the rest of the car...

You couldn't do a harness adapter. The B6T ecu uses a knock sensor, and all that wiring is specific to the B6T engine harness.

Not all 323's used a 2plug ECU. IIRC it was the BG (90+?) uses the 2plug ECU.

Sorry- no offense - but it seems like you're wanting to reinvent the wheel here

so i could run a 323 harness for the engine as a standalone computer system and leave my festiva harness alone? its funny that the 323 had 2 and 3 plug ecus but the carb only festys have a 3 plug and the efi has a 2! why couldint they just pick a plug style!! somebody could make a killing making harness adapters!

No. The Capri is an 3-plug ECU. The B6T electronics & harness can run a BPT.

I started with an OEM B6T and later upgraded to a BP+T and retained the stock harness, and used my chipped ECU to run it all.

The engine harnesses are almost completely independent of the chasiss harness. I've never done it (almost did), but swapping in a different engine harness shouldn't be the end of the world. There are one or two large plugs where it plugs into the rest of the car where it gets power and a couple other things, and then sends signals to the gauge cluster through there as well. IIRC you swap/repin the plugs and go from there.

So if he has a bpt in his capri then he either did a harness swap or it has a factory 2 plug ecu..... I can't seem to find any pics of a capri turbo ecm.... if the capri is a 2 plug then that's what I need. If anybody can give me a for sure anwser that would be great.

Rocketman has a BP+t in his Capri.

Ok but the bp computer is a 2 plug. A b6t is a 3 plug so how would that even be possible unless u take every pin connector out of the 2 plug setup and place all of the pin connectors into 3 plug setup? I'm not following your logic..... so he swaped from a bp to a b6t and then later changed the harness to a 323 for cali inspection? And is the capri computer still a 3 plug?

If not mistaken, a bp can be later swapped in place of the b6t, running all b6t electrical. b6t also has knock sensor and extra stuff you should be interested in retaining to keep everything safe and fuel/timing curves turbo friendly.

Fastiva in this thread has that combo, and pretty sure he reharnessed the car for a b6t for California inspection.

Do u know if they make an adapter harness from the 2 to the 3 plug harness? I hater wiring I've already done a full harness swap from carb to efi. Not too fun!

Entirely different setup. B6t has vacuum advance. Bp doesnt. B6t is a 3plug ecu. Most bps are two.

In short no you don't need to swap a harness in the tried & tested manner that many have done, to make it run. I'm sure you can just make your own from scratch

Thanks for the info aaron! So I was doing some reading ant supposedly I need a harness swap to run this engine.... is this totally nesecarry? The bp just needs one extra wire so why would the b6t be any different?

I was hoping to set the boost for 14psi..... is that a safe reliable amount of boost? I know the stock setup is abot 140 hp and I'm shootin for about 200-220 hp. Mods will be 2.5" straight exhaust, bov, 2.5 intercooler piping and small intercooler (front mount). And possibly the computer chip mod? and will the factory fuel pump for a festy ouput enough fuel to keep up with fuel consumption/pressure?
You're going to want to do the following, according to Corksport:

    Step #0 - Boost gauge.
Step #1 Exhaust. 2.5 will work great
Step #2 ECU upgrade to allow you to run up the 15-16psi (PM user Rocketman for details... his name is Matt)
    Step #3 boost controller
Step #4 Upgrade the POS IC and piping
    Step #5 Upgrade the BOV.

On a budget, grab a 1JZ Supra Front Mount... it'll flow more than plenty for up to 300HP and fit beside the radiator DSM BOV is a great choice... crushing not necessary for under 18PSI. Do hard piping if you can, it'll be short runner too. The chips are fantastic, but a little pricier. The exhaust I expect will cost the most.

With those modifications and a VJ-11 hybrid or full swap, you can expect in the neighbourhood of 190WHP with 15-16PSI. You'll definitely need a better fuel pump... look into RX7 or DSM Walbro 190/255LPH's.
