  • Vaf conversion

I have done a search, but dont really know what to search for.should i search VAF to MAF, ect, so my question really is,

    ahem,

to run a true cold cold air intake, and get rid of that horrid plastic air box, and run a cone filter, is there a conversion available. does that question make sense.

You can get a VAF adaptor that bolts on the VAF and gets rid of the box. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...___#fragment-1

You don't really want to convert a vaf to a maf, you just want a cone filter adapter like wybrml is telling/showing. Shop em out on ebay, looking for one that shows the bolt dimensions or options, then build from there.

officergrover knows the part number for this. I posted a thread a while about about this but it was for the BP VAF not the B3.

No i think i know what he means.

          To have something like this,

and run it through one of these,

          That's what my astra has.

EDIT: Ive also been thinking about this and i have found this http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...onversion.html, pretty clever.

To run MAF, you would have to convert the ECU over to an OBD-II/MAF designed system. I think the Aspires are OBD-II/MAF, but I don't know for sure. That would be a lot of work and I don't see any real benefit to do this, the factory VAF is more than adequate for what 99% of us do.
If all you want is to run a psudo-CAI with a cone filter, all you need is one of the VAF adapter plates for a Mazda. I've even seen them at Autozone before, in the "ricer" section with all the cheap universal CAI parts.

Blk ford sedan is exactly right, it is doable, I've done it, but that's not what he's looking for. He Just wants the ability to update the intake portion of his program with a cai of some sort.

I make these, they're for the B6T VAF but will probably fit others. Anyone know if they're compatible? This is one of my prototypes, production will look a little cleaner

I bought the Spectre part at Advance, but it won't fit my B6 VAF. The bolt holes fit horizontally but not vertically. The plate is too tall in that dimension. The 3" cone fit is difficult to fit to the B6 VAF, though I do have another one on Lux that works that I got off ebay. I also have an aluminum plate off a BMW but it only fits a 2.75" cone filter diameter.

If anyone can link to an ebay part that definitely fits, especially one made of aluminum and without any extra stuff (I don't need filters as I have two better quality AEMs already), I'd appreciate it.

Yes, there were many OBD-I MAF systems, but I was thinking more specifically about the Festiva application and what would lend itself easily to a conversion! I was thinking the Aspires were OBD-II, but as
getnpsi informs, it appears they were OBD-I. That would make it a little more simple.
