  • B2 engine tuning and performance part

I wanna build my b3 instead of swapping I know it's been covered before but I can't find it. I'm turboing the festy but don't wanna blow it up so is there performance internals for it

bro go with bigger injectors like the b8 or bp once, get a chipped up cpu , a better fuel pump you will find in ebay, you can put a flange on your festiva manifold but if it is too rusted then get a shop to either weld you one or call festivamotorsport.com buy one and put a flange on it. also you will need the turbo of course. also will ne a fuel pressure regulator, also i would put a performance cams, or racing if u willing to mess with the idle a little. and the tubes for the turbo will have to be custom made by a shop. that what i am planning to finish up, these people will say is easier a swap and way better, but maybe they dont understand that someone dont wanna take the motor out.. lmao! well i already have b8 injectors installed( didint increase hp but gets the car alive in one click) i mean turning it on . it did lowered my mpg by 5mpg but thats ok. i already have a t3/t4 turbo and intercooler, just ordered the adjustable fuel pressure regulator from ebay and the fuel pump, next month i will be calling fms if they have the headers available, if not i will go to the shop i always go to to get a custom one made. also will be getting the racing cams. and also bought new pistons. i dont post pictures in this site because these people dont need to know what i am building. they wont help u with a b3 , so me and you and a couple are on our own =/. but there is one guy here he a mechanic which built a b3 turbo and has bunch of pics dont got the thread but is in the forums somewhere.

OP. Search username "mattdickmeyer", and look at his build threads for crazy B3 ideas. He also makes parts for them. Easy stuff first. Port, cam, compression if you're staying N/A.

He also started a turbo build, but never got far with it.

If I made a mod to my B3 that didn't add HP but took away 5 MPG, I'd waste no time undoing it.

Put that engine back to stock until you actually get a turbo on it. Then worry about bigger injectors.

i'm definitly turboing it. i have a turbo manifold being built by a friend who does fabricating for a living. tho its usaully jeeps not cracker boxes. but i love it just needs more power. my plan was to rebuild the motor just alittle beefier. then vf11 turbo from a subaru cuz its watercooled as well as oil.custom dp front mount intercooler and thinking of toying with a megasquirt system. any help and im grateful. its not that i dont want to pull the motor i just keep i mostly stock. i own a auto shop so alittle work doesnt scare me.

"a custom downpipe" everything turbo on a b3 is custom.
"I own a auto shop so a little work doesn't scare me"...but at the same time "I don't want to pull the motor"
"I just want to keep it mostly stock" but with a turbo lol

Hmmm I disagree with that statement. I haven't heard either of these two guys claim 300HP+ yet I say go for it! But don't be surprised if we don't all get excited just yet. A lot of people have started (or threatened to start) building a wicked turbo B3... just not many have finished. A lot like the guys who want to throw in B16 or B18, but then it never happens. But I for one am supportive. However, how do you plan to build out a turbo motor without pulling the engine? Seems like a lot more work to try to do it inside the car... just saying.
                  No festiva for me ATM...

I understand the worry of extra downtime when building a festiva up for performance when something doesn't go together. Buy another one. Many people on the boards do this, look at their signatures.

If you can build a wicked b3 turbo system you should get the older b6 and make it more wicked, a la iceracerdude.

Pulling a b3 out of a festiva goes faster than messing with the back end of one that has rust. That was 2 trips to the store for tools.

We yanked a b3 out in about 30 minutes! I wanted to do a B3 turbo project but for the price it would have costed, me and my brother just swapped in a BP. Hey 93, B3's dont have cams, they have just a cam thats why they are SOHC not DOHC, unless you have access to the rare DOHC B3. I think the B3 would be a perfect turbo project, but I dont really think the block can handle much when it comes to HP or boost. Probably 8psi for sure but anything above 12 psi I would be worried. Personally I dont think its worth the time to try and BUILD something that could blow up a few miles later. For what your gonna spend on a good reliable turbo setup, you could just swap in a B8 which is easy or a BP which is easy and have more hp and torque just being N/A. My BP is ported and running VICS and it can tear the tires off from 1st to 3rd. Plenty of power!

i was planning to get the b8 but its really hard finding one here in chicago. and the junkyards here are a pain in the butt.. its true that its not worth it i have been doing lots of thinking and searching about the b3 b8 and 1.6 . i am leaning more to the b8 but i keep calling my dad and he says keep it stock untill i go over there cause he has the mazda protege i said months ago he was going to give me. but idk i have to see, i said i wasnt going to post anymore in this site but cant lol. festiva ftw. im still cheking what i should do..
