Here is basic info about the B-series engines. They all bolt up to the Festy manual and auto trannies.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Where is a good place to get the rebuild kit? I found a complete upper and lower seal kit at rockauto.com and its the best price I can find but I still cant find a master kit or pistons. I havent taken the motor apart to see if I need oversized or not but I like to know my options before handLast edited by Tommy; 06-03-2011, 06:12 AM.

The DOHC B6 came in several cars, including the early miatas... that will be your easiest source for pistons. you can even get high comp or low comp forged pistons, if you were so inclined.
its quite likely that you won't need pistons, best bet is to yank it apart and see what you need. If you do need pistons you're probably better off buying a gasket kit, and then pistons, and the main/rod bearings all separately and just get what you actually need.~Nate

Thats kindof what I had planned was to put new seals in it and bearings I was hoping to not have to replace pistons and rings but if I dont this will be the motor I didnt have to, all the others have had big scratches in the walls and I needed to go up in size.

might want to throw some new rings in there anyway. most B series engines i've seen still have crosshatching at above 150k miles. so if the cylinder walls aren't wearing, and your pistons aren't scored, then your rings are taking the beating and should be changed.
once you put this back together, use STP oil treatment with your oil changes (it has Zink in it that our older engines were designed to use and the new oils out there no longer use it as part of the additive package).Trees aren't kind to me...

late gen MX-3 header should work for you, or one for a capri, OR possibly a shorty header for a miata (first gen "NA" chassis).Trees aren't kind to me...

Redline makes a break-in oil additive and lighter "race" oils w/ZDDP. Also, I think Royal Purple has the ZDDP. The Eastwood Company also sells a ZDDP additive.

My brother turned me on to Royal Purple a couple of years ago by putting it in his trail blazer, we put it in the motor and got a 30 mile gain on mpg we then put it in the tranny and rear end and got a total of 50 mpg better than before adding it, that doesnt sound like much but when you drive as much as him and I do it really adds up.

I would think if you got 25-30mpg you would be doing excellent.
So your claiming 75-80mpg after the royal purple.
