This swap is a simple fuel saver for the fastivas out there.

the 5th gear swap is one of the easier mods that yield the most noticeable results... if the trans is out of the car it shouldnt take more than 20 mins. it took me about an hour cause i have to drop my motor/trans down a bit to get the end cove off.

surprised no one commented on the fasivas part yet

I got one of my .717 5th gearsets from Clay "azgtx" on ClubProtege/TeamCapri, I think he gets $65 a set?
My other set I pulled from a 2g Probe GT transmission, apparently they're also .717 probably due to the short final drives

There are two gears that make up a "gear" in a transmission

what do you divide the teeth by? so lets say i had 73 teeth what would i divide that by?

Count the teeth & divide the numbers, you get the ratio.

I don't know of anyone that's modded a 4th. That gets tricky because you have to disassemble the whole trans & press bearings off etc. The 5th is outside of the main transmission case which makes the swap easy

is there anyway to identify the .717 ratio? it is the biggest correct? are there any taller 4th gear options??

That should be the part numbers... Other wise its off the early FS 2.0L mx6/626..
