  • Intermediate shaft

    Im slowly starting to gather parts for my g series transmission to one day hook up to a bp. And i need some details on the intermediate shaft, or as its called over here lay shaft.

    Whats the dimension of this shaft i should be looking for?

    Are there different sizes?

    How many teeth are there on the inputs? 22?

    I think that's about it at this moment. They are really cheap over here like 30-40 dollars.

    Im also picking up another free f series! Had some pretty good luck lately.

      26 splines it can be sourced from a 1991-1994 mercury Capri xr2 or a 88-89 Mazda 323 gt fwd. Only. They can not be purchased new and are best likely sourced from someone selling it in the classifieds section or a pick n pull. The escort gt/ protege lx is different and will not work for the swap.

          Thanks that should be enough to get me started. Things are a little different over here, we have the 91-94 ford capri xr2 which is the same, but the 88-89 323 are pretty much non existent. I know they came out of some AU ford lasers, but im not sure if they are the same setup as the escort gt.

            I think it's safe to say any factory FWD B6T cars has the int. shaft you want, I only work it that way since in north america, the only fwd b6t cars were the Capri xr2 and 323 gt
