if your using stock trans and flywheel gotta use a stock clutch. you could get a clutchnet clutch if you want a stronger one.

+1 on the Clutchnet. You'll need a stronger pressure plate than the Festy one to keep the motor from just spinning the clutch. They have a Stage 1 and a Stage 2. Call them and tell them what you are doing (BP), and take their recommendation on which kit to order.
If you go cheap, you'll be sorry, so get enough clutch. As long as you don't use it for drag-style launches, the stock tranny will do. Even if you go to a G-series, you can then sell your slightly-used Clutchnet clutch to someone here.Last edited by TominMO; 08-01-2011, 08:54 AM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

I'm using a exedy for a suzuki swift turbo car. It's got a 7.5" face and I had to re-pin and retap the flywheel to accept the new pressure plate.
Also ground the step out of the flywheel.
I've got $100 into the flywheel repin and retap, another $100 into the exedy kit delivered, and another $50 into the resurface job.
That gave me an additional 3/4 inch of friction area combined with a stronger pressure plate.
I'm figure I'm running about 138 hp against it and don't have any problem with slipping, but I don't drag race it on pavement.
With a fresh stock e series sized exedy (7 1/8") and pressure plate, I could make it slip at a roll with about 115-120 hp.Last edited by iceracerdude; 08-01-2011, 07:18 PM.

I ran a spec for a while. It was great for up to 100ish hp.
Once it slipped I did the same as iceracer and it was enough to handle more than the trans could.
My advice......buy a good one and you will not outgrow it-Greg

The only difference in stage 1 vs. stage 2 is.........
stage 1 has a metallic friction disc.
stage 2 has a kevlar disc.
They both have the same "clamping force" The kevlar can just take more heat. You will slip these with a stock bp.
You can call spec and they will make it 30% stronger for an additional $130.
It is stil not rated for a stock bp hp/tq.
Just letting you know. TominMO has a spec in his b6+t car and it made 111 hp and slips.
Spend the $$ to do the swift clutch and you will not regret it.-Greg

It slipped in 5th at first. Later Greg installed a cat-delete pipe, and it would slip in 3rd and 4th too, so the cat-delete made a big difference.
Will reinstall turbo later, either with this motor or a future B8 or BP--and a better clutch of course.Last edited by TominMO; 08-02-2011, 10:51 PM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
