hey guys just wanting to know a little more about the factory EFI setup that was factory on the US market festivas. Im in australia and we didnt recieve the efi option until the 94-97 festivas came to the market. was wanting to now wat other models from ford/Mazda can i use for the efi setup. i have a 93 WA festy whick was originally a 1.3 8V carb with the 3sp auto, i have since upgraded to the 1.6 16V carby motor found in the mazda 323 and mated it with the old auto and the car goes like a rocket. im using the the 1.3 carby on the 1.6 motor as the 1.6 carb hits the firewall, im wanting to go efi because the 1.3 carby just doesnt give it the nessesary fuel when u jump on it at the lights. thanks guys.

You would need the ECM , the EFI in tank pump unit, an intake manifold loaded
with all sensors, coolant sensor, air filter box with meter, pig tails on all parts
and a good wiring diagram to make your own loom. Little details would be powers
and grounds, and a ton of little inputs and a few outputs like check engine light.
The little 1.3 can't even run the brake lights so almost all electrical items have a
input to the computer so the idle speed control can hold the rpm steady. It will run
okay without these inputs and they will not turn on the engine light. Please look
at a block diagram and you will get the picture. It just takes a little time for those
of us that work this stuff every day. If you have no background with computers on
cars and wiring this project will be an education.
A hybrid of OEM and aftermarket such as mega squirt would be easier and probably
    cheaper in the long run.

Great job so far! Check out the Laser, I believe it is a 1.6L fuel injected car that was sold there.

I believe the Ford Laser was a 1.5L engine. The 81/82 Lasers also had a twin carb option. I mounted a set of them on my B6 with an adapter plate (see avatar).

Isn't there something about the crossmembers? the rear mount pulls the engine
into the firewall unless you get the right crossmember? That might have something
to do with the 1.6 hitting, need an automatic conversion specialist to have a say!

u dont need to change the crossmember if it was already and auto, just need to use the 1.3L carby on the 1.6 like i did and it wont hit
