  • Serpentine pulley for festiva

Since I have all the aspire pulleys - 4 ribbed - is there a serpentine pulley from another model that would work? They say serpentine belts have less drag and better in the long run. I don't know if the aspire pulleys could adapted or not... the ones I have are 100 miles away. The main reason for asking is because I put a festiva engine in the aspire and getting the ac is becoming a pita.

I'm guessing since no replies that is a no. I got to thinking about the two pulleys and this is what i'm may end up doing. The aspire's pulley center hole is larger versus the festiva. If something was to cut out the center section of the festiva's and basically weld it to the aspires and redrill the holes I don't see why it wouldn't work. In my case I would have to weld the festiva center piece on the outside of the ac pulley and weld both pieces together. The alignment should be the same do the festiva's piece being on the outside. Anybody else think of something wrong with this idea?

I think you are asking for a lot of problems if you try cutting and welding the pulleys. Just getting the pulley perfectly centered and running straight (not wobbling) is going to be difficult. Then you will also have to figure out top dead center on the crankshaft to get the timiing mark in the correct location.

Are you trying to run a double serpentine pulley? That is one pulley for the water pump/alternator and the second for the AC. If you are running a double serpentine, I have never seen a small nose crankshaft with the double serpentine pulley. (that's not to say they don't exist) If you have a V pulley running the water pump/alternator, then there is a serpentine pulley for the small nose crankshaft that will fit on the outside of the V pulley. The most likely place to look is in a late '80's - early 90's B6 donor car like a 323.
      You gonna race that thing?

Is the two pulleys separate or one piece? It looks like the 88-89 323 models had that pulley.

The pulleys are separate, at least on the '89 323 B6 that I bought for my swap. It had A/C and a P/S pump too. There is one belt for W/P and alternator and another belt for A/C and P/S. I have the pulley laying around here too and I don't run A/C on my car, so you can have the pulley for the cost shipping if you can't hunt one up locally.
              No festiva for me ATM...

Found one on the first aisle 89 Tracer.. talk about luck. Do I need to use the harmonic balancer with this outer pulley?
