Wil did that to his MX3... about two years ago. It didn't end up working, I don't know why, maybe he messed something up.

That limited slip uses the same concept as the phantom grip... except the Mazda differential actually works.

So you're telling me I'm gonna buy a LSD for my B6T? That's great but I didn't expect me to ever open a tranny, it's freaking me out :?
Is that a Festiva that just passed me?!?!?!

Start with a Festiva transmission, they are much easier to work on then the G25MR. You need an impact gun for the G25 to remove the large nuts on the end of the gear-shafts. You have to take your time with it. Don't try and force it apart, if the part isn't coming out, then you haven't removed everything that retains it.

I also think that differential case shearing problem would never happen with our Festivas. Think about it, those Protege guys that snap the casing probably do it on slicks and probably after they modify the car. It's a much heavier car on larger slicks with more power. Chances are it won't happen with a <2000lb Festiva with less power and smaller slicks. The only reason I wouldn't want to weld the ring gear to the casing is two fold, one, you'd never be able to remove the ring gear again, and two, both parts are cast and then machined... so the weld may not hold for very long. It is cheap insurance though.

My Festiva tranny is gone with the engine a long time ago. Maybe I'll bring my G25m-r tranny to the Mazda dealer to let them do it, that way, I will have a warranty. And if one day you decide to do my B6T mounts I'll be able to put my motor in

I believe there's some modification necessary to the transmission case, so chances are that Mazda won't warranty it.

I looked at the pics and it seems there's only a little grinding needed to get it to fit, anyway, I'll call the to know the price and everything.
