  • Anyone using a lsd in festy trans?

Mazdaspeed use to sell a lsd which is made by Cusco for the stock Festiva transmission. Has anyone used a true lsd in a Festiva trans? I'm not interested in hearing about phantom grip.

For some of us lesser able-to-decipher-auto-jargon what you're asking about is 'limited slip differential', I presume? Would be a nice feature especially on snow or ice.

I have a phantom grip in my 5spd. It makes a definite improvement in both handling and off road traction.

Mazda never sold one for the E-series, only the G-series. It was initially for the Mazdaspeed protege but you need to do some special machining to your speedo gear to use it (in a G-series) and you had to run special axles too.

With how weak the stock tranny case is, I wouldn't want to spend the for an LSD to put in one, that's why I have an LSD in my G series trans

          1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
          1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I saw a Japanese catalog many years ago which had it listed and Roger from Festivamotorsports said that he had sold a few of them.

Look in the "QUAIFE" or "WAVETRAC" online catalogs if its listed.

They go from 600 to about 1500. The 600$ one was for the MTX75 (svt contour or svt focus??)

I'm curious why you would want to spend money on it when its proven time and again on this forum that the e series transmissions are junk. For a couple hundred more you could get a g series.

I'm curious if anyone on here had purchased them from festivamotorsport and what the results were. Someone running a b3 or b6 may be interested in the using the festy trans since its smaller and lighter and the lsd would help with traction and possibly allow it to handle more power.

Even if you managed to get a LSD in there you would shear the gears off. They aren't made for much power. Besides, when you swap a g series it relocates the engine so you don't have to clearance the firewall and frame rail...unless your putting a klze in there...damkid...
