  • axle measurements needed, e,f,

    ive run into a snag on my awd truckstiva was wondering if you had these axles laying around if you could measure the input trans side and see what it measures with a micrometer thanks in advance - dan

    g = 1.05in ...
    g5mx-r (awd)= 0.97....24 spline shaft
    f=?

    but wait ..since the faq says that the g series only accepts 26 spline axles does that make my awd a f series since it takes the 24 spline axle? but mine takes a jackshaft lol so....i may have a f series with a jackshaft?

    The F series transmission can be found in multitude of mazda B-engine powered cars, including but not limited to: Mazda MX-3 1.6, Mazda Protégé DX, Mazda 323, mercury Capri NA, and the Mercury Tracer with the B6. Most of these cars were made in mass quantities. There are some slight differences between the cars, but they all have the same basic transmission. Some of these use a clutch cable, while the rest are hydraulic. The F-series transmission has a 20-tooth input shaft spline count, and accepts 24-tooth splined axles. The F-series transmissions do not have a jackshaft/intermediate axle.

    The G-series transmission can be found in bigger B-engine mazda powered cars, like the 88-89 Mazda 323GT, 1992-1993 Ford Escort LX-E, 1991-1996 Ford Escort GT, 1991-1996 Mercury Tracer LTS, 1990-1994 Mazda Protégé LX, and the Mercury Capri XR2. The G-series transmission can also be found attached to K-series mazda cars, but these transmissions have different bell housing because they are attached to a V6. The 323 GT and the Capri XR2 use a cable clutch, while the rest of these cars use a hydraulic clutch. The G-series has a 22-tooth input shaft spline count, and accepts 26 tooth splined axles. The G-series transmissions use a jackshaft/intermediate shaft.

        The awd trans uses different axles, the trans is wider where the diff is meaning the axle "stub" goes deeper into the trans

        The awd trans is still a G series, but you need to use the awd axles to match the tranny

        I'll see if I still have a pic of the awd and fwd int. shaft comparison

        If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

          the Id on the side of the transmission says "G0C32BC16" the 0 could be a o and the B could be a 8

              The awd protege's use basically the same transmission but the axles are for the BG chassis which will not work in a festiva, you need to get the axles from a 323 GTX in order for it to work

              I found the pics

                  would the 323gtx axles have the same spline count as the aspire knuckles?
