More power with or w/o muffler?

Hey guys,

Well I bought my festiva without a muffler and I want to put one on but was wondering if i should expect a torque increase or power loss. I just want to get a stock one from a junk yard, nothing aftermarket.

Also though I hear that the aftermarket FMS exhaust actually kills torque, is that true? What kind of engines can take advantage of that exhaust? lol, Im not used to working with such low displacement engines

Increasing flow will move the torque peak higher in the rev range. The butt-dyno usually registers this as a loss of torque, but usually it's there, just at a higher rpm.
