  • B6 Carb swap

This has probably been asked and addressed before, but I couldn't find it. I have a 89 Festy with a 1.3 carb. I'm not really interested in swaping from a carb to fuel injected. With that said, has anyone ever went the B6 carb route? If so was it worth it as far as power gains?

I know there are a few folks who have done the b6 swap and stayed carbed. B3 manifolds bolt right up to the early b6 (88-89 mercury tracer/ 86-89 Mazda 323). Personally I'd do the Weber Carb swap along with, but it has been done with the factory carb. This thread may interest you http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...hlight=b6+carb . Use that search function, there are others who have done similar swaps.

the US b6 engines are all efi, you will need to look abroad for an intake and carb for the b6. I usually just stick my b3 intake and carb on a b6 and they do just fine. That is where the performance gain is.

I bought one of those "low mileage" Jap engines off eBay that was a carbed B6. The intake runner ports are a little bigger than the B3 and the carb is slightly different from the B3, but it's still from the same manufacturer as the B3 and the mounting bolt pattern is the same. I sold mine. I think Festyboy ended up with it.
        You gonna race that thing?
