  • Good carb info!

    For all you guys that have carb swaps, (and even if you dont) here is some good info on the Weber carbs. There are exploded views, calculators for fuel, cfm, and lots of other stuff.
    The link below is to the CFM calculator page. I used it to calculate the CFM requirements of both B3 and B6, just for fun.

    B3 = 1.3 = 80 cid = 137 CFM
    B6 = 1.6 = 98 cid = 168 CFM

    Had to convert litres to cid for the calculator

    Click around on here, lots-O-stuff!

    Interesting; but does not account for the better breathing of four-valve DOHC cylinders vs. two-valve SOHC, for example. So I would consider this to just be a rough estimate.

    I see you used 7000 RPM as your redline. I doubt that these two motors make power that high, the way they are designed. Probably 5500 is more reasonable, which would give you 108 CFM for the 1.3 and 132 for the 1.6.

    The CFM for a Weber 32/36 is in the 250 neighborhood, IIRC, so it is enough for even a 180 CID (2.9 liter) motor!

      7000 rpm was used, as the site said, "It is better to be on the high side"
      ..and yes, the Weber will go that high in displacement, and have seen as much as 300 cid engines run good with them. Prolly a stretch for the 32/36 though.
      BTW, 7000 is my redline, and I have hit 6500-7000 a couple times :p
