  • Engine bay wire tuck

Has anyone wire tucked a Festiva's engine bay? I'm mid process myself, and was just curious if anyone has some photos or tips to share?

For those that have no clue what I'm talking about here are some pics....notice the lack of wire clutter.

    And an extreme example!

How do you do this! That looks awesome. Soo many wires under the hood of our little cars.

The weird things people do solely to preoccupy themselves. I may not like messy or exposed wiring but at least when I go looking for one or more they're usually staring me right in the face!

I did a mild wire tuck when I did my KL swap, a buddy once told me it doesn't look like it should even run lol

But it sucked when I blew a tire and it messed with the wiring, ended up pulling the fender in a parking lot to make the repairs before I could continue my trip

I eliminated any unnecessary wires and tucked what I could on Tweak (b6t swap). I was going for a clean stock appearance though, not a custom sterile engine bay. I'll post pics tonight.

K, it's not a full tuck, because I wanted and OEM look, but here is the wiring in the XR2 donor car that gave itself so that Tweak could be a Fastiva.

Okay, here is the same wiring harness in my Festiva, with everything that wasn't necessary cut out. I also hid the knock control box under the center console, which kept things tidy in the engine bay.

Again, not a full tuck, but it's easy to work on and appears bone stock to people who don't know otherwise.

And here is the engine bay with no wires at all. Lol

Wire tuck parties? Is that like a tattoo party, or a Mary K party? Tupperware? :p Lol. I kid, I kid. I'd be there in a second if it weren't a 2500 mile drive.

Here's a tip for cleaning the wiring of a Festiva. The lighting control relay, that has all the 10G (IIRC) white wires going to it, can be mounted under the dashboard. That gets rid of a lot of wiring right there. I'm not sure why they put that relay so far away in the fist place. Mine is up behind my cluster, so If I need to get to it for some reason I just have to remove the cluster.
Another tip is to ditch the Festiva main fuse block (in the engine bay) in favor of one from a more modern Mazda, or even an aspire box. They look a lot cleaner and the fuses are a better quality.
