  • Carby Engine Swap???

I have a 89 L carb and looking to do a future engine swap... what engines would be fairly easy to bolt in? I understand that the b6/b8 is pretty straight forward, but my question come in as what extra work is needed because I have a carb b3 right now? wiring? fuel pump? etc.... can a find a carb b6? or would it be worth swapping out into a fuel injected bigger engine? sorry, i'm kinda new to this...Thanks for your help...

The most straightforward swap you can do if you want to keep the carb and avoid the mess with finding a harness and ecm to run fuel injection is a first gen B6. Literally drop it in, bolt up your existing manifolds, fuel pump and carb, crank it up and drive. If you want to go injection, get ready to do some serious work routing an efi harness and swapping out the fuel tank for an efi tank with pump. It's been done before. Take some time, read through some of the build threads and get a good idea of what you want out of your swap. You may decide it's worth it to go injected just because it opens up the possibility of simpler swaps later on (should you decide you need more powah!). Do your homework, it pays off when you actually get into the swap. Issues pop up, and somebody may have had a great idea that would have made your life easier if you had just taken the time to do a little reading. Good luck and happy hunting!
