  • CRANK PULLEY THREAD

We need to come up with a crank pulley for our swapped motors other than a 93festiva b3. If someone can make one or has found another form that would work that would be grrr8. I have 2 motors at home missing pulleys cuz ive used them on swaps already....any ideas.

will the b6d pulley work its two peace just like the festivas but i think its large nose(not sure how to tell) the out side pulley is a groove belt and in side is v belt

Is it a matter of clearance also? If it wasn't could you just swap everything over for a serpentine belt? Always wondered if the pulley on the ac could be changed out.

Why is everyone so insistent on V rib belts? I know it's not a clearance issue, and most swappers don't care about a ac compressor or power steering. KIA Rio's have a big nose, aspires have big nose, but their 4 ribbed belts. (serp imo implies it is 1 belt that controls all, which is not the case with 4 rib belts on aspires and kias that have 2, 4 rib belts)

Early BP's have a small nose, in fact I have one right now that will go onto the B3 once I pull it out, it is a clearance issue on the BP swap, because they all had PS or AC

It's not a clearance issue, clearance is elbow grease and a deadblow/2lb sledge hammer on any bp/g swap. I don't know many people that care to have PS on a festy-or aspire- especially with the rio tops being what they are.

Mine is an escort bp small nose, with the serpentine machined off. I then used a stock b3 AC pulley inside the bp damper.

              It works great. period.

Here's large nose Capri damper, inner section. It uses a separate outer 4-rib pulley. Small nose is the same way

My new engine will have a long nose crank. I'm using all the pulleys from an mx3 (z5) and an mx3 alternator. They are the thin rib belt pulleys that take less power to turn than a traditional v belt and also require less tension ( good for the waterpump). These pulleys are not much wider than the v belt pulleys, so clearance isn't a problem. I won't be using the accessory pulley ( no power steering or a/c).

anything 93 and newer is long nose. Some 91 and 92 engines are long nose, anything older than 91 is a short nose. This seems to be consistent among all b series mazda engines. Z series 4 cylinders all seem to be long nose ( they are all newer than 1992 anyway).

Thats the bp i used last. You'll need the other timing cover pieces to make the vc work properly. Also they have a pickup wheel on the front of the crank that would work good with standalone ecus.

They are big nose, but have a serpentine pulley IIRC
