Update. The crossmembers are interchangeable BUT the rear trans mount is different so I had to use the Junkyard mount that came in the 5speed. Still waiting on parts to complete the job.
Got (most) of the parts I need, tie rods, lca, pads. But I bought the wrong inner rods from Ebay and have to wait for my refund to buy the right ones cuz I am out of money. I am still hoping to be able to bring the 90 to midwestiva but time is flying by and not enuf progress. I will be installing the axles and shifter monday, cuz it is all I can do now. I may reuse the old inner ties if I have to but the pass side is really bad and the boots are completly gone. Man I cant wait too get this puppy on the road. Thanks too everyone here for all you help and support. FF.com for life!!
I finally decided to do the swap on my '93GL "Luxstiva" with B6/ATX. I'm only getting 27mpg average in daily driving and a 5 speed would really perk up the performance from my stock B6.
I'll use many of the parts from my '89L "Muttstiva" to do this. It had a transplanted 5 speed (originally 4 speed) with a fairly new clutch.
I also need a new rack, brake booster, heater core, hard brake lines and a few other parts, so I'll be doing a major disassembly of the dash and front end. Time to do a HUGE overhaul!

'93GL "Prettystiva" ticking B3 and 5 speed, backup DD; full swaps in spring!
'91L "AquaMutt" my '91L; B6 swap/5 speed & Aspire brakes, DD/work car
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, salvage titled, waiting for repairs...
'93GL "Luxstiva," '94 B6 engine & ATX; needs overhauled
'89L "Muttstiva," now a storage bin, future trailer project
I have reused the old inner ties after my buddie told me he thought they were good. I am in just the right mood to believe him. I have the axles in, the spindles reassembled and barring a small issue with the outer tie on the pass side i may just be able to test the tranny tomorrow! If it all goes well my bro is out of luck cuz my friend want to buy the 88 and I REALLY need the cash. Living on the razors edge these days.
Update: Got the wiring done(sorta). There are two switches coming off the man trans (green\green small) and (green/green big). And there are two switches coming off the auto (black/black big) and (green/green small) To get your back up lights going, splice the (green/green small) from the man to the same on the auto. No sweat. The black/black big off the auto is the neutral start switch and you need to rout that into the pass compartment and splice it into the clutch position switch(I have not done this yet, I only tied them together and taped it back. I WILL do this right later but for now that will do. As for the other Green/green big off the man trans, I have not figured them out yet but will soon enuf. Got the ties and arms on axles in shifter mounted and now I need to talk my friend into loaning me the money for the pads and go for a cruise! Tranny went thru all 5 gears GREAT! reverse works GREAT! My tach cluster works GREAT! My painted fender not so much. But that is low on my list right now. I next have to put the sway bar in (thanks Freshtiva and wife) and that's all! Very excited and ready to drive my new Festiva!!
Vacation starts today!!! Finish up the last loose ends and hopefully to the alignment rack by 4:00pm. Going to drop off the windows to be tinted by my bro in law, install .99 short shifter (actually $11.00 but it's all Jell-O right?) Map light upgrade, grant wheel install, repaint my fender (again) Also going to replace the Back up light plug with a aftermarket one I really like, will look alot cleaner. Have great idea about the start switch. I am going to run a low voltage switch to the under side of my dash, tie it to a relay and tie in the switch to that. Nice little theft stopper. And how cool is it being the only person who can start my car. I'm going to try to do a wright up on the shifter cuz I cant find a good one here and the popular Haynes manual is woefully inadequate. Wish me luck guys. This is the big day!!!
I'm on vacation too (in a couple hours) and I've already been cleaning out my garage. Gotta organize all my parts and tools to see what I have and get to WORK!

Done done done. Everything, at least as far as the drive train is concerned, is in top running order. I am super stoked about my new ride. Love the 5 speed, diggin' the full console, amped about the factory tach. Current issues are no f/parking or turn signals, no radio, and the bird chirp Chirp CHIRP of the speedo cable is making me INSANE!! Compounded by the no radio thing, it's almost unbearable. All small fries. First tank of gas gave me 36mpg. And a complete tune up and a bottle of Lucas Upper Cylinder Cleaner should get me 1 or 2 more. All things added up, this new to me car cost me only $150. Sweet.
i would also like to do this to mine.. there are no festivas i can get the parts off of can i use the aspire tranny.. i want it and i don't even know how take a tranny off.. but i love stick shift and well i love my feastiva so it would be like pure extasy and is there a way you can simple it down i don't really know much about cars.. and any one willing to help me.. free pizza...
Ok, I'm starting the auto to man mod. So, I'm going to add to this thread.
First, take pedal assy out of your donor car. Changing over this assy is half the job. After taking this out you may decide its to much for you.
You will need 10,12,14 sockets/wrenches, of course. A deep socket 12. About 2 ft worth of extensions. Vise grips/pliers and wire cutters.
It will be easier to remove the drivers front seat and the steering column. The steering column is not that hard to remove.
Underneath the dash their are 3 14mm nuts to remove which are easy to see/remove. Their are 6 12mm nuts/bolts to remove behind the steering wheel. Their is 1 bolt 10 or 12 mm that holds the column onto the rack inside at the firewall. Unplug wires from the column and remove.
Now you can see the 4 bolts that hold the power brake booster on to the fire wall. This is were you use the deep socket 12mm and extensions. Once these bolts are off, slide the booster out/off of the firewall
Their is a clip that holds a bolt in place to attach the brake pedal to the booster cable.
Remove clutch cable firewall gromet and push it thru the firewall. Insert as much of the cable into the interior as possable. Now you will beable to see the brakehose style clamp that holds the clutch cable assy to the pedal assy. Remove the clutch cable from the pedal hook. Shove the cable assy back thru the firewall and retrive it.
I'm planning on swapping from auto to manual, but I'm removing my whole dash since I also have to check/replace my heater core, brake booster, maybe wire in a dash clock, etc.
Also, new rack and pinion and who knows what else a 220K+ Festiva will need replaced in the front end area.
If I find a tilt wheel, I may actually put that in as well. I had a chance once from a '90LX I found, but felt it was too hard to get out and not really worth it for the little adjustability they provide. But it would be neat and fits in well with "Luxstiva."
