  • clutch options?

swapping bp into stock festiva with 5 speed, everyone recommends upgrading the clutch.

    1) what options are there?
    2) where is the best place to order them?
    3) how much are they?

    Thanks!

I have heard bad reviews for Spec clutches. Hopefully someone with hands on exp will chime in.

I dunno, are there any other options for the stock transmission? I searched pretty extensively and all I came up with are the spec ones.

I just bought a SPEC Stage 2 for our BP swap, we are going to put it through the works at the end of Feb, I'll give a performance review of it after the 100 acre wood.

I have always used Stock festiva clutches and never had much slipping unless I redlined 1st and 2nd.

My white car had a new Excedy clutch in it when I removed old B3, So Im using it on the BP with No problems at All! Time will tell, but Seems to be working,.

I put a Spec in my Mustang. The first time I power shifted with the race tires on I blew the stock T5 trans.

I think I have a Suzuki Swift GTi ACT 6-puck with a modified Festiva flywheel and E-series. It's definitely a 6 puck, just unsure whether it's the Swift one or Festiva. Grabs really, really hard... zero issues with my B6T.

This is also what I was going to say. Do a search on a swift clutch here I pretty sure there are some instructions someone posted. Ill look for the link later and post it if I find it.

Good info Don. I would add that a Stage 2 for a G series is a lot more clutch than for an E series, so for the newb they need to be aware that this is an apples-to-oranges comparison. I suspect that any brand-name clutch with a Stage 2 pressure plate will do fine under all but extreme circumstances, like high boost or hard launches.
