  • B6/B6T Capri wiring harness pics and slightly in the doldrums about this bit.

here are some pics of the wiring required for what i assume to be a B6/B6T loom splicing. (please someone preserve these photos for future generations)

    http://www.modified.com/tech/0401_sccp_ford_festiva/photo_10.html

and this one for good measure

is this basically the process i will need to follow?

within the article, it mentions a 323 loom and to be quite honest, i just want to be able to splice the festiva/capri looms together and keep it simple.

This is one of the bigger parts that i'm dealing with, on an emotional level as it does seem overwhelming, but i know i can do it.. i just really need a straight out wiring 101 (with pictures, of course to show me exactly what wires go where).

As far as my imagination goes, this is how my processes of thought are going with the "loom" section of the swap.

if i remove the complete b3 loom, then i can replace it with the b6 loom and splice from the ignition side of the loom.

    as a small diagram clarification,

    |--- B6/capri loom (no splicing required) - Engine Bay Side --- | ECU | --- Capri / Festiva "Hybrid" loom(s) - Ignition side ---|

If someone could present a chart with a layout of exactly the wires i need, that i could study a bit more, i'd be a lot happier and a bit more confident to attempt this section of it. The "Passenger mount" issue is another thing, but i am accepting that much easier than the wiring.

I know, i know, eat two spoons of concrete Gary.. but for someone who has very little experience in actually wiring a car, but can follow pictures and instructions without too much drama, i think i'd be fine. besides that, i'm willing to give it a go as you can't learn without trying ... right.

if it's step by step, even better.

thanks for the help with this.. just remember,

PICTURES AND DIAGRAMS WITH EXPLANATIONS, PICTURES AND DIAGRAMS WITH EXPLANATIONS

i have also started corresponding with CWS tuning in canada, so hopefully they can shed some light on the daunting task of deciphering the spaghetti of what is involved with this process too.

BTW, i won't be mounting my engine until i have the mounts i need (hunting around for a bolt-on kit with crossmember), so there is still plenty of time to bash it into my head, and i welcome every "pound to the proverbial skull" as needed to get the information in there and stick.

Best of luck. It's what Sasquatch and I used to prepare my wiring harness exclusively.

I couldnt get my b6T running at first because of the horrible misinformation from the b6T swap. Gets me sick just thinking about it, i had a race car that didnt run for 2 years. There needs to be an excel file with pictures and pinouts hell its 2013!

Ok, because I'm not running a efi 91 festiva, does that mean I can effectively solder the complete ignition from the capri loom to the festiva ignition barrel rather than splicing it?My 2nd question is, can I simply bypass the B3 ECU wire step on page 20, as the electronics will effectively be all capri?Next question, it also mentions on pg 19 about air conditioning being left out, however, I would like, for the time being, to keep my A/C as I won't be using a turbo or anything like that, so is it possible to utilize those wires for the A/C instead?

ok, back to the conversation at hand, i'm half way through stripping out the loom and a bit stuck with the climate control (which won't be that bad to remove).

i will make an update from my "diagram clarification":-

              From this:
              |--- B6/capri loom (no splicing required) - Engine Bay Side --| ECU |- Capri / Festiva "Hybrid" loom(s) - Ignition side -|

              To this:
              |--- B6/capri loom (no splicing required) - Engine Bay Side --| ECU |- Capri / Festiva "Hybrid" loom(s) - Ignition side -| (Accessories, A/C, Ignition.)

So basically, i have half an idea so far.. as for the air conditioning, i'll presume to think that i can use these unless someone has some information that can put some light on this situation.
