Is all the hype about these things worth it? Does anyone have any experience with these systems? I have been doing some reading on them and want to know if anyone has put one on a Festiva and whether or not there was a gain in the already great gas mileage.

it's all hype... look at the physics of it and you'll see that it takes more energy to produce the hydrogen than it can put out, plus, it'd be nigh impossible to produce the volume needed to make a differance. i suspect the "gains" being recorded are more from latent water vapor than from any hydrogen being produced.Last edited by FestYboy; 02-19-2013, 02:09 PM.Trees aren't kind to me...

Here's the thing. Have you tried it? It makes sense on paper , the concept behind it is to "enhance" the combustion of gasoline using hydrogen. You aren't producing hydrogen to take the place of gas. I've read about people using 5 amp fuses to make it work. 5 amps seems kind of petty to me. It really boils down to if you have experience with it, and that's what i was searching for'89 L Charcoal

hydrogen injection
My dad tried building a hydrogen setup to test it out, it didn't work at all
So as arty said, it's all hype

Movin may chime, think he has run this.
also check under member name Ybloc, or something similar.
I'm with Arty on this, except I believe when they are overriding the o2 sensor they lean out the A/F ratio.
So they see an effect, but has nothing to do with the minor amount of H2 or even H2 and O2 gas being put into the engine.

actually, the worst that can happen is what happens to most of these experiments; The rich-biased O2 leans the fuel trim to the point that combustion temps exceed 2500*F, melting exhaust valves and piston crowns. The college I teach for is a member of the National Alternate Fuels Consortium. WVU has done a good bit of research on Brown's gas / HHO, whatever you choose to call it. The majority of the economy gains are from the false O2 readings, or leaning out of carburation, not the ingestion of hydrogen. I have seen the results first hand, done the math (to the extent I am able), and have been duely unimpressed. However, if you think you can get different results, go for it! Failure teaches us more than success! Just be prepared for unexpected costs.Jim DeAngelis

my buddy had a hho kit and a fitch catalyst installed on his mitsubishi montero, he claimed with the 2 bolts on he was getting a extra 3-5mpg. If i had a festiva to toy with i would be all about it. Read about Smokey Yunick's hot vapor engine! FB71 does make a good point though, i would maybe install a wideband 02 sensor and play with adjusting the vaf to control the amount of fuel. Maybe add some solar panels to aid in generating the hho?Last edited by Hot_Wheels; 02-19-2013, 03:36 PM.

we have built and tested a hyforgen cell and it does in fact work help in power little but not much and mpg we installed it on a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with the 4.7 before the cell we got 15 mpg in city after the cell it increased to 22mpg city. we had a wet cell style cell it was producing roughly 10 liters of hydrogen per min. i found a video on youtube that had a ram just like mine running completely off of it i believe he said he was producing roughly 60 liter/min the hardest thing to do is to get the water baking soda solution right89 festiva all of a mighty 1.3 Tha Black Bullet and good ole casper got casper when I was 15 and loved em ever since

so you're saying you got a 50% MPG increase with your HHo setup and a 5800lb flying brick? forgive me for being sceptical, but, PROOVE IT. Imperical data please.Trees aren't kind to me...
