  • Polyurethane Engine and Tranny Mounts

Are there any Polyurethane engine and tranny mounts available for us?
Otherwise what is the best thing to do to my engine and transmission mounts? Since they are pretty deteriorated.

Replace them. Or fill them with windshield weld.

So I'm pretty poor right now, and I've decided to take the cheapest possible route to modding my car. And on top of that, I think filling the stock mounts is a lot easier than pressing in replacements. Instead of buying the prothane mounts or the ES inserts, I just

I filled mine with poly just like Aaronbrook37's thread he posted. I have a pic of them in my build thread from when they got filled, they're messy. That stuff SUCKS to work with. It tore my nitrile gloves it was so tacky. However, I peeled off the excess poly and painted them flat black. They look pretty good. I'll snap a pic.

If you want REALLY solid mounts, you can always gut them and fill them in with HDPE. It melts at about 230*F or so. If you want them 'not so much' solid, you can just fill the existing holes with it... it's kind of a PITA because you have to groove the rubber and pack it tightly into the holes for it to actually stay there.

It's really just easier to fill with windo-weld or similar high density silicone.

Does this increase the harshness much?

My current front mount is solid rubber.

LOL, I used the EXACT same PL Construction Adhesive as the guy in that thread. It took about a week to cure completely through, but it worked very well. On the top PS mount, I put a large steel washer on each side to pinch it all together. I also did the front trans mount, but left the rear trans mount stock. We'll see how long it lasts. It really won't hurt anything if it works itself out anyway, since the mounts were on good shape. All I wanted was to help prevent wheel hop.

It'll last. My last car made 130hp, was manual, and driven hard daily and I never had one issue with them. VIBED like nutz till they broke in, though.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
