Festiva Power Steering and A/C after engine swap.

hey guys,

just have a question about installing power steering after an engine swap.

Has anyone ever attempted this?
Will it be a possibility?

My understanding would be i'd use a Festiva power steering rack, hoses and reservoir, but my main concern with this would be: do i use the festiva pump or just use the pump from the engine that i would have transplanted from (Capri Xr2 Non-turbo engine + transmission) and would all of the hoses fit onto the pump to allow me to use power steering?

Also i'm curious to know if A/C would still be an option, as i don't plan on putting in a turbo at all (maybe in the future) and i want to know if anyone has done just a standard swap (no performance stuff, just regular road use swap) and kept their A/C for the summer.

any information would me much appreciated.

I installed a B6 with Festiva P/S and A/C. Someone correct me if I am wrong. You should be able to use any A/C compressor and P/S pump. The rest of the systems (power steering rack, condenser, etc.) would have to be Festiva so that it would fit.

Its tight, But I have A/C and PS with my BP swap... useing stock festiva pump,rack, and compressor.

No power steering here but curious as to why one would bother. Light wheels, inflated tires, and polyurethane bushings make my steering wheel ridiculously light. I can steer with a finger and parallel parking is a cakewalk. And this is before putting on the KYB strut hats from the Rio.

There are a lot of places that will make custom A/C hoses to mix and match any application.

awesome.. thinking festiva p/s and ac as i'm not really planning on doing any real performace work to the car, just a slight upgrade with a bit more power and the engine seems a lot healthier for it's age than my b3 so yeah.. the engine i have feels rock solid and no lumps or bumps, pings or weird noises at all.. people are crazy asking me "why don't you just save and get a new car?" i'm thinking "i love this car and i don't want another one."

You should get her a test drive in a 50 year old Dodge Power Wagon, locked in 4 wheel drive, that has no power-assist nothing for clutch/steering/brakes. Then she'll come to appreciate your Festy manual steering.

LOL.. she complains at the moment and had a fit when she "tried" to get the seatbelt down.

I explained to her that the seatbelts only work on level ground and that she needs to "slow down"

i also explained that once the car was rolling, show wouldn't have an issue. mind you, this "fit" she had was all while the car was completely stationary and she was on the outside of it.. with the car not moving.
