How long will the stock trans hold with a BP?

I have an engine and trans. out of a 92 escort GT and I want to know how long it will hold up with just the engine. Everyone is going to say, "why don't you just put the trans. in since you have it" but there is obviously more work involved. I just plan on taking it to the strip a few times and driving it a couple times a week, mainly to work. Anyone who actually has a BP or other modified engine in their car and a stock trans. I'd appreciate your comments.

My ATX has held up pretty well behind the BP but there's no "launching" involved, so abuse is at a minimum.

i put in an escort gt trans, and its not super hard of your willing to make your own mounts... plus you gave your own answer there kinda already...

take it to the track... that means launching hard a few good times... generally a trans is built to handle twice the hp of the motor it comes with, a festiva is 62hp, so 124hp is the limit... BP s rated 134hp if i remember right, meaning you could granny drive it ok and still have some fun but in NO WAY EVER would i reccomend launching it... maybe with a b6t yes because they dont make as much torque initially off the line until the turbo spools but a BP is gutsy straight off and it will either crack your housing or shred your spider gears....

It should be ok, behind a naturally aspirated BP, They don't make a lot more torque then a B6, so you should be ok. It's torque not horsepower that breaks drive line stuff, that is why clutches are rated by how much torque they hold not horsepower. Turbo engines make a lot more torque then normally aspirated so that is why it is marginal with the B6T and definitely not recommended with a turbo BP.

I floored the ATX all the time.. dropping the clutch may be a heck of a different story though..

yeah yvan has definitly proven the stock ATX trans to be able to hold some power

as fo the manual... after having a g5m-r and a festy stock trans side by side... the size difference alone scares me to think that puny transmission is even able to hold the b3's "massive" *cough cough* power... :roll:

im just sayin for the everyday user its ok, but to stand under any real hard driving at all you will see durability issues, maybe not right away, but within a year of driving it even a little rough, i bet there will be severe problems...
