Festys have resonators? Up here they don't, at least the Walker parts manual doesn't show any and I've never had one on any of my cars. Or would you happen to be tallking mufflers?

well it had a muffler and I can say I swore it was another muffler cause it looked just like one. I asked a guy the does mufflers here and he said it was a resonator. I don't know why it would need all that its not loud now but I guess they decided to make this one extra quiet

It was found on the Mid-pipe, between the back of the Cat reactor and the muffler.
It isn't very big, but then again we are talking about a 1.3L motor.
The after market Walker parts do not have this now.
I believe at one time they did have this feature.

          Update:

I recall if was at least visable, in the above link I can't see it, but as a feature it lists: "Resonator Assembly"

I wish you could post an mp3 of the sound. It sure is hard trying to imagine what it sounds like. I really would like to hear it. Do you have a Walkman to record the sound?

just checked my '93 Festiva Shop manual. The exhaust diagram shows what looks like a resonator as part of the pipe after the cat., but the discription does not mention it. It just calls the whole part the " Catalytic Converter Outlet Pipe"??
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

Later Festys seem to have a resonator. My 91 didn't, but my current 93 did/does

My car(s) is quiet already (in between when some GD pipe or gasket lets go) and I have never come across a resonator (I have 3 operational Festys and have taken apart 2 others) around here in the past 10 years. What would be the purpose of such an item, aside from boosting profits for a 'pipe' company?

I built a straight exhaust for my Festiva, it was way to loud, had to put a muffler in.
I got pulled over by the state police the other day in my Escort GT. He said I had a defective muffler. right about then a flock of Harleys roared by. The officer handed me back my expired insurance form (a serious offence in Michigan) and said, "Have a nice day."

I ran my b6t for year with open downpipe. It really liked it. I did get stopped by fhp (Florida highway patrol) and ticketed one day for no exhaust. I said it fell off lol. It's a ford what do you expect right!?
