Your holy ghost will not save you.
Your God plutonium will not save you.
In fact...
...You will not be saved!"
I did the B8 swap in 2 days. It's ridiculously easy. Makes for a pretty quick Festy and the gas mileage isn't that much worse.
A tip:
Most swappers talk about having to find a late '92 or newer crank pulley. This is because Mazda made the nose on the cranks larger because of reports of people snapping off crank pulleys. The later Festy pulley bolts to these large nosed crankshafts.
Although they're known for not being as strong as the later large nosed cranks, the small nosed (early engines, before 92) make swapping much easier if you have a pulley from a '92 or earlier Festiva. Mine (a '90) bolted right on to my '90 B8
Also, your B3 downpipe can be made to work on a B8 (just slot the holes on the flange). It's not ideal, but it will let you drive your car until you get a new exhaust.
Festiva: Because even my dog can build a Honda.

thanks for the info. So far it looks like most people like the B8. I'd absolutely love one of those 1.7L diesels, but it looks like that will never happen lol.
I vote for the B8-ME, too. Single cam, easier to do valve timing, uses less space, re-drill a hole in the passenger side engine mount bracket that bolts to the inner fender and you don't need any special motor mount adapters, engine can be carbed fairly easy if you have a carbed body you're putting the engine into, and it can take a beating in the rpm department.
