  • "It's like Deja Vu all over again!"

During our race back in April we went through 25 quarts of oil in the three days. Two quarts in five hours on the first day of trials and getting driver used to the track before the race. By Sunday we were dropping in two quarts every 1.5 hours. Before the race we pulled a motor from a Kia and took the head off to be worked before putting in the BP. Decided to mill .020 off head for more compression. So, the bottom end must be shot with at least a bad ring or so. I found a complete BP from an Escort 93 that the block had just been loaded at the shop with forged internals. The guy ran out of money before finishing his project and I handed him some cash. I'm putting the decked head on the block this weekend. We have the ext/int swap cam and gear mod to put back. We want to squeeze a few more ponies out without going turbo. We can change to an exhaust header and do a port mod on the intake manifold from the Clubprotege forum. After that, what else is there? We want to run street 93 octane. Any more (reasonable) ideas?

Interesting. Why not? With forged internals I'm hoping we will be more robust and give us a little more head room if 6000 RPMs feels like a good idea.
