Festiva Accent swap
I was thinking of using a 1.6 DOHC Hyundai Accent engine with an Auto tranny from an 2000-2004 Accent if it works.... thoughts?

To lift an eyebrow that engine has to beat a protege's economy and/or power by a significant amount, which they do not. Even hyundai cars this decade are barely hitting the 40mpg mark...it is a heavier car so it would do well in a festiva, but those engines arent 185.99 all day long at any yard i know of.1993 GL 5 speed

Adapting over to OBDII is going to mean entirely stripping out the dash and tangling with a whole other wiring harness. I don't envy you for that inordinate amount of work just so can say you put in another engine. Likely there are also going to be huge obstacles such as speedos (are they electronic in 04s? vs cable in Festys) and other sensors, controls and gauges too.Comment

Alternative is to buy a standalone fi management system that's odb2 compliant.
