Carb to FI gas tank ?

What is the reason that the FI gas tank is required when putting a FI engine into the older Festiva??

It is not "required" to change fuel tanks if you run an external fuel pump for high pressure fuel injection. The reason people change tanks is so they can use the "in tank" fuel pump instead of plumbing in an external pump. The fuel gauge sending unit cover plate on the carb and injected tanks is different so you can't just drop the injected pump in the carbed tank.

OK, cool. I figured it wasn't something that was absolutely necessary, but I wasn't sure why.

I will be running an external pump anyway, but I wanted to use the factory tank instead of a fuel cell (need the room for the nitrous bottle :twisted: )

i will use the carb fuel tank too on my car. and an external bosch fuel pump.

i see no problems at all.
