  • Boring a 1.3

What would be the maximum cylinder boring for a Festiva 1.3?

  • #2
Dickmeyer was saying 1.4 liters with the .080 overbore.
Was the limit without compromising cylinder wall integrity.
While also leaving enough material for one engine rebuild(hone) down the line.

This is something I've always wanted to do!

        Doh! Double post. Sorry people.

I need more money that's why.
I've been saving up for my engine work.
But I got laid off a month ago for winter.
        Can't paint in the winter.

Plus I like to bundle work all in one.
That way I only have to open up the engine once.
But trust me sometime in the future this will be done.
Sometimes it just takes longer than we expect it to based on life's random nature.

So what your saying is that it would be safe to bore the 1.3 .080 over?

              It's not what I'm saying.
              It's what dickmeyer was saying.
And he is a proffessional race engine builder.

Thanks. I have a couple of 1.3's since my son has an 88 Festiva. He runs it like I do my 64 Chevy II with 400HP, WIDE OPEN. I'd like to build him a pretty good engine for it. I'll contact them about more detailed info on boring it.
