Does anyone know what I can get rid of to clean up my engine? I have an 89 with a carb. I was working on it today and I was just looking at all of the extra crap on this engine. It looks like a mile of vac lines and a few things that I really have no idea what they are for. I would like to just strip all of the extra junk off to make it easier to work on and also look cleaner.

Carb'd festiva's are like another language to me so I can't give any real advice on your question but I've heard many stories that when a carb'd festy starts acting up, it's very difficult to get it worked out, so personally I wouldn't tamper with it
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

You need another carb for sure, if you want to rip that stuff out. I have a weber 32/36 on my Festy. Had it on a B3, and is now on a B6.
If you get a carb, you only need vacuum to the disty and brake booster, and fuel to carb. You will need an adaptor for the carb/intake. Member "Rocketman" has adaptors, or you can make your own.
If you need assistance doing a carb swap, you can PM me and I will try to help with any Q's you may have.Last edited by drddan; 03-10-2014, 11:16 AM.Dan

my 89 Festy also has a B6 from a 87 323 bored .030 over with the head being ported and polished and oversized valves I did the weber swap with a 32/36 carb and the Rocketman adapter and EGR delete plate with the aspire exhaust manifold and a full 2' 1/4 exhaust and a 18" glass pack no cat or resonator, my questions is what size idle jet would be best in my Festy. the ECU is completely disconnected and removed and all the crap on the firewall. check out my pics. hit me back when you can

Idle jet ...I would try 50, 55, or 60, and work from there. I think that is what comes in them and usually run good with those.
Go to "Racetep" or any Weber site and check the weber set-up adjustments that should be done IN THE CORRECT ORDER,
The fuel mix is self dianostic by the number of turns in/out on the mixture screw....AND NO you do not use the screw to adjust lean/rich conditions!
The screw, by how many turns in/out TELLS IF YOU NEED LARGER OR SMALLER JETS. It is not an "adjustment screw"
1 1/2 -2 turns out...period! Use the jets to change this .... if needed to get the 1 1/2-2 turns out.
Good luck, and pm me if ya feel the need!Dan
